These paintings have to do with my fascination and wonder at looking at things closely, about feeling awe at the lushness and complexity of the visual world, painting the moment of looking that's so complex it initially registers as a jumble of color and pattern, but as the eye focuses, the component parts emerge in absolute clarity.
